Biography

Jim Foreman grew up in a working-class family as a militant atheist and self-proclaimed Jesus hater. A chance encounter with a stranger at an inner-city gym led him to college and ultimately to a PhD from Penn State. Foreman served as a university professor, held the chair of a social sciences department, published professional papers and won a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship. Without warning, his life as a professor began to feel empty until, one night when he was thirty-four, Foreman experienced the salvation of Jesus through streams of redeeming love. Foreman, a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice, also served as the Family Advocacy Program Manager at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. His most recent books include Two Lives, One Glory: Letters Across Generations, Unfolding Nights, Adventures of a Fool for Christ, and Rhymes and Reasons: Confessions of a Christian Counselor. Higher Ground Media filmed and produced his spoken-word songs, Wounds of Christ and Dancing Joy, and they are streamed world-wide on YouTube and Amazon Video. He continues to write books, preach sermons, give talks, lead retreats, and do therapy and mentoring in a variety of settings. Jim and Debbie, married for forty years, live in San Diego, California.
